Demons of Asteborg

Demons Of Asteborg is a new original title for the SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis which will be released both as a physical cartridge for this console and as a downloadable ROM for emulators and flash cards.

It is a platform-based game with some metroidvania elements inspired by a lot of other Mega Drive / Genesis titles like Ghouls’n GhostsCastlevaniaMickey ManiaSpace Harrier or Panzer Dragoon.

The Game


My Role :

  • Layout of the different Level's Zones by using the character's metrics.

  • Design different gameplay elements like obstacles.

  • Build the level with an internal tool and a layout tool.

  • Iterating my level design after managing Playtests.

  • Bug tracking in the level and QA testing of the game.

  • Write documentations for the development team.

  • Helping on game design mechanics and narrative design.

What I learned/improved

  • Balance the difficulty of the level zones thanks to playtests and feedbacks.

  • Level Flow and Pacing.

  • How to operate a real production.

  • Work with the other poles of production (Art, Programmation especially).

  • Programmation and design constraints that C language and megadrive could create.

  • How to work in team and alone with social distance.

  • Report bugs effectively.
